Application of the new structural principles can be based on experience from present day practice for materials and details involved.
However, inspiration for more advanced solutions can be found for example from studies of nature or ancient design of structures, which are mostly based on compression forces.
The nature of the new technology furthermore allows application of materials and material combinations, which are usually not applied for load-bearing structures leading to exploration of new design possibilities.
