Beams
Although the principle of super-light structures is logical, a number of full-scale tests have been made in order to ensure, that nothing important has been overlooked and to demonstrate that the principle is applicable in practice.
On the video you can see one of the beam tests.
The beam is a double cantilevered construction, of which you can see the one side.
It brakes by crushing the compression zone at a load of 218 kN, where the calculated ultimate load was 195 kN.
